The Pakistan Super League 2023 edition (PSL) will get underway on February 13 and fans are already going crazy over the same saying that it might be one of the best tournaments given the return of Shaheen Afridi, the lead pacer. That being said, Lahore Qalandars released a video on January 28, Saturday where Babar Azam was seen facing Afridi in the nets at the Graffidi Stadium, Lahore.
After having represented the Karachi Kings for the past 7 years, it would be vital for Babar to start afresh as he will take on Peshawar Zalmi in the upcoming season. Given that it is his first season with the Zalmi, it remains to be seen if the star Pakistani batter can replicate the same energy from his previous team.
On the other hand, Shaheen led the team Qalandars to victory in PSL 2022 and with him coming back after a fiery injury, it could be a game-changer for him, given that there is a 50-over World Cup scheduled to take place in India later this year. The left-armer’s comeback would be pivotal for the Men in Green’s success in the Indian subcontinent.

It is an honour for me to lead the franchise: Babar Azam
While the Kings leaving Babar out would be a headache for them, it is all delight for the Zalmi as they would leave no stone unturned to clinch the title this time around, with the Men in Green captain Babar’s presence in the dressing room adding to the team’s overall morale right throughout the highly-anticipated action-packed tournament. If at all Shaheen proves his worth and regains form in the upcoming contests, it might be the greatest comeback ever for the fiery pacer.
“It is an honour for me to lead the franchise, and I'm excited about the new challenge. Peshawar Zalmi is one of the best teams of PSL and has done well consistently over the past few years,” Babar was quoted as saying after being appointed as the captain of the Zalmi ahead of the approaching season.
