Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has had a massive fan following for his incredible run in international cricket ever since his debut. The star batter has been also given the opportunity to lead the national side after impressing the selectors with the bat for a number of years. In the recent tri-series, the Pakistan skipper has once again won the hearts of fans after a video of him cleaning his shoes himself went viral on social media.

In the video, Babar is shown in comparison with Iftikhar Ahmed who is seen getting the grass removed from his shoes by the 12th man on the boundary rope. Moments later, Babar is seen handing over his bat and gloves to the 12th man and cleaning his shoes himself. Babar has once again shown his humility on the field with this act.

Babar Azam back in form before the 20-20 World Cup

Pakistan are currently in New Zealand to play a T20I tri-series against the Kiwis and Bangladesh to finalise their preparation for the 20-20 World Cup. The Babar Azam-led side has got off to a great start to the series after winning back-to-back games against both the oppositions. The skipper played a magnificent knock of 79 off 53 balls to guide his team to a six-wicket win in the second match against New Zealand.

After having a dismal show in the recent Asia Cup, Babar has found his form again just before the world cup. The 27-year-old has amassed 520 runs in 16 innings in T20Is this year at an average of 40 and a strike rate of 134. Babar has one hundred and three fifties to his name this year.

The opener was the highest run scorer in the 20-20 World Cup last year with 303 runs to his name at an average of 60. He would look to emulate his performance this year as well in the mega event.

The star batter will lead his team in the T20 extravaganza and start their campaign against arch-rivals India on 23rd October at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
