On 9 October 2022, Australia took on England in the first game of the three-match T20I series. Meanwhile, Australia were coming off a 2-0 T20I series victory over West Indies at home. On the other hand, England were coming off a 4-3 away T20I series victory over the Men in Green in Pakistan. 

Therefore, the stage was set for an enthralling battle between these two cricketing giants ahead of the 20-20 World Cup. However, an unwanted incident took place when Ben Stokes came out to bat. One of Daniel Sams’ delivery hit his helmet brutally and it made fans fearful. The video went viral all over the internet.

Speaking of the incident, it was the 14th over of the match. Ben Stokes and Alex Hales were batting for England. Meanwhile, for the Aussies, Daniel Sams came out to bowl. On the second delivery of that over, Stokes tried a cheeky reverse sweep. But, Sams bowled a slower as he got deceived completely and it went straight to his helmet.

However, he looked good as medical representatives came out to check him immediately. Daniel Sams also came up to check him and Stokes continued to bat. However, he did not last long as Stokes got out for nine runs off nine balls. In his inning, Stokes hit only one boundary. Meanwhile, it was Ben Stokes’ first T20I match for England after March 2021. 

Speaking of the match, Australia won the toss and they elected to field first. Jos Buttler also made a comeback from injury to the playing XI. The England skipper and Alex Hales batted beautifully. They scored a partnership of 132 runs in 11.2 overs. Buttler scored 68 runs off 32 balls while Hales scored 84 runs off 51 balls. Thus, England scored 208 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. For the Aussies, Nathan Ellis starred again with the ball. He grabbed three wickets for 20 runs in four overs.
