Ben Stokes, a star all-arounder for England, played his final ODI game on July 19 against South Africa. The series' opening game will be the 31-year-old's final match of the format, he had previously declared. In the 50-over format, he has had a remarkable career.

In the match, he received a standing ovation from the crowd at the Riverside Ground as he walked out of the ground. Stokes' stay at the crease, however, was not very long. He was dismissed on the 11th ball that he faced. He was trapped in front of the stumps by Aiden Markram in the 28th over of the second innings.

England Cricket uploaded the video of Stokes walking off the field and the crowd giving him a standing ovation on their official Twitter handle. "An inspiration. A legend. A champion. Thank you for everything, @benstokes38," read the caption of the video.
