A bizarre moment during the Vitality T20 Blast final cut short Hampshire Hawks' celebrations mid-way. Hampshire players thought they had won the final. Stumps were uprooted to retain as winning mementoes, and fireworks were let off, but their celebration was cut short when the umpire signalled a no ball.

When Nathan Ellis bowled Richard Gleeson, the Hawks began to celebrate only to have the ball ruled a no-ball. Lancashire Lightning had a free hit after the no-ball, and they just needed three to win. Even a tie was enough for them to win because of their greater powerplay total.

Following the no-ball, Ellis swiftly regained his composure as Gleeson swung on the free hit before running a single. After an exciting final at Edgbaston, Hampshire Hawks eventually defeated Lancashire Lightning by one run to win the Vitality Blast.

As for the match, the Hawks batted first but did not have the best time. Only Ben McDermott had little impact in the innings with the bat. He scored 62 runs in 36 balls, with four fours and as many sixes. Apart from him, nobody could do much in the match. Ross Whiteley, with his score of 22 runs in 20 balls, was the next highest scorer for the team. They ended with a score of 152/8.

Matt Parkinson scored 4/26 for Lancashire after being discharged from England duty to play in the final. Luke Wood also took two wickets, while Richard Gleeson and Danny Lamb took one each.

Except for Keaton Jennings and Steven Croft's second wicket partnership of 60 runs, nobody could accomplish anything in the chase. The Lightning kept losing wickets as the equation came down to four runs on the final ball before the no-ball fiasco. Croft, with 36 runs in 25 balls, was the highest scorer of the innings.

For Hampshire, Liam Dawson and James Fuller each took two wickets in the game, while Chris Wood and Mason Crane each took one.
