Speaking of the video, the incident took place during the 16th over while Perth Scorchers were batting. Annabel Sutherland was bowling for Melbourne Stars. For Perth Scorchers, Piepa Clearly and Amy Edgar were batting. On the fourth delivery of that over, the bowler bowled a no-ball. So, the batting team got a free hit as per the rules.
Now, on that delivery, Clearly tried an innovative lap shot. But, she missed it and the ball hit the edge of the stumps. The batter did not get out as it was a free hit. But, the pace on the ball was so much that the ball went to the boundary and the Perth Scorchers got 4 runs. Fans found it funny as the video went viral courtesy of fans.
Speaking of the match, Melbourne Stars Women scored 110 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Perth Scorchers managed to chase it down with two balls to spare. Beth Mooney won the player of the match award for her knock of 35 runs off 44 balls. She also took three wickets in the match. With the win, Perth Scorchers Women are now sitting at the top with three wins. On the other hand, Melbourne Stars Women have now lost three out of three games on a trot.
