Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is celebrating his 56th birthday today (Saturday, September 9). To make his big day even more special, the veteran actor, along with his family, visited Jyotirling temple of Baba Mahakaleshwar in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh to seek blessings. He was also accompanied by senior Team India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan and the two were seen performing the bhasma aarti of Lord Mahakal early in the morning.

In a video circulating on social media released by news agency ANI, Akshay can be seen in a saffron-coloured dhoti with his hands folded during the Aarti at the Mahakaleshawar Temple while Dhawan, wearing a white kurta, also actively participating in the ceremony. The video quickly went viral and many fans wished their favourite actor on his birthday. "He is such a Humble and Simple Man - Man of Masses - Megastar Akshay Kumar," wrote one of his fans. "Happy Birthday To The One And Only AKSHAY KUMAR," wrote another user.

On the work front, Akshay was last seen in 'OMG 2',  in which he played the role of Lord Shiva. Meanwhile, the actor and his upcoming project recently made headlines after its name was changed following a debate over changing India's name to Bharat. His new film which was originally titled 'Mission Ranigan: The Great Indian Rescue', has now been renamed as 'Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue.' Akshay, fondly known as Khiladi Kumar, is also starring in 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' alongside Sonakshi Sinha and Tiger Shroff.

Will Dhawan be seen in the blue jersey again?

Meanwhile, Dhawan is currently going through a rough patch in his career. The 37-year-old was one of the best openers India has produced but in recent years he became an out-of-favour player and lost his place in the Indian team. He was not included in the 2023 Asia Cup and his name did not figure in the upcoming ODI World Cup. However, after being omitted from India's 15-member squad for the marquee event, the southpaw shared a heartfelt social media post and congratulated his fellow teammates.

"Congratulations to my fellow teammates & friends chosen to represent India in the WC 2023 tournament! With the prayers and support of 1.5 billion people, you carry our hopes and dreams. May you bring the cup back home and make us proud! Go all out, Team India! #ChakDePhatte #WorldCup," Dhawan tweeted.
