The highly anticipated India-Pakistan match in the Asia Cup 2022 was everything that fans had hoped for. It had the usual high-quality cricket with some brain fade moments as the high-pressure game always has. One thing, however, that was missing from this particular India-Pakistan match was the general animosity between the two teams as it used to in the past.
In previous encounters, the opposing players played with an absolute aversion to each other on the pitch. The latest match, however, saw a different face of Indian and Pakistan players; one that had a friendly atmosphere around it.
Even in the build-up of the match, players could be seen greeting each other and having a laugh about, something that was entirely different to the past. In the match too, players could be seen talking to and laughing with each other.
A similar instance which is now doing the rounds on the internet happened in the second innings of the match. The video that is going increasingly viral shows Hardik Pandya in friendly banter with the Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan.
While completing a run from the non-striker's end, Pandya goes to Rizwan and hugs him from behind. Rizwan who was in a serious mood soon starts to smile following the Indian allrounder’s friendly embrace.

Talking of the game, it was the usual high-intensity match that fans were eager to see. India halted Pakistan’s innings on a small total on the back of Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s enthralling performance with the ball. Having taken four wickets, he becomes the highest wicket-taker for India in T20Is against Pakistan and also the second overall wicket-taker for India in T20Is (77).
Coming on to chase the total, India started off poorly as KL Rahul was dismissed on duck. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli steadied the innings but could not see through the match. The match came down to Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya, who came on top against Pakistan’s bowling attack to take the team across the finish line. Pandya played a match-winning knock of 33 off of 17 and finished off in style with a six.
