On 5 January 2023, Adelaide Strikers took on Hobart Hurricanes in the ongoing Big Bash League. It was the 30th match of the ongoing tournament that took place in Adelaide. Both teams were looking to win this clash to improve their position at the table. However, Adelaide Strikers did not disappoint the home fans.

They won the match by seven wickets. Matthew Short won the player of the match award for his all-around performance. But, during their chase, the umpire gave a controversial no-ball decision that made headlines. The decision left all fans in splits also and the video has now gone viral on social media platforms.

Speaking of the video, the incident took place in the 17th over during the chase. Adam Hose was batting for Adelaide Strikers. While Faheem Ashraf was bowling for Hobart Hurricanes. On the fourth delivery of that over, Ashraf bowled a full toss that Hose hit to the long-on. However, Tim David made up plenty of ground and grabbed the catch.

But, the on-field umpire gave it as a no-ball as they thought it was too high. Speaking of the match, Adelaide Strikers won the toss and asked Hobart to bat first. While batting first, Hobart Hurricanes scored 229 runs for four wickets in 20 overs. Ben McDermott scored 57 runs off 30 balls. Caleb Jewell scored 54 runs off 25 balls, including three fours and four sixes while Zak Crawley scored 54* runs off 28 balls, including five fours and three sixes. For Hobart, Colin de Grandhomme took two wickets for 45 runs in four overs.

In reply, the home side batted brilliantly and chased down the target in 19.3 overs. They scored 230 runs for three wickets. Skipper Matthew Short scored 100* runs off 59 balls, including eight fours and three sixes. He also won the player of the match award as he took one wicket for 34 runs in four overs with the ball.
