After the completion of the T20I series, Australia played the first ODI match on their tour of Sri Lanka on Tuesday. In the match played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first.

While fielding, David Warner pulled a stunning catch that caught everyone's attention. In the 26th over of the first innings, Ashton Agar bowled a full delivery to Dhananjaya de Silva, who tried to hit it between mid-wicket and mid-on. Warner, on the other hand, was very alert and ran to his right before leaping into the air to take the magnificent one-handed catch in his left hand.

Russell Arnold correctly pointed out in the commentary box that he watched the ball carefully and timed the jump properly. A video of David Warner's spectacular grab has gone viral on the internet.

As for the match, the Dasun Shanka-led side got off to a flying start in their innings. Danushka Gunathilaka and Pathum Nissanka batted first and laid a good platform for their innings. The duo added 115 runs in the opening partnership, with each scoring a half-century. However, both lost their wickets fell in quick succession.

Gunathilaka (55) was run out in the 20th over, while Nissanka (56) was out in the 22nd over by Ashton Agar. In the meantime, Kusal Mendis continued to bat well and helped his team reach a score of 190 runs in 37 overs. He batted brilliantly, getting 86 runs in 87 balls with eight fours and one six. In the first innings, he helped the team score 300 runs.

The target was reduced to 282 runs with DLS coming into play. While the men in yellow had a few brilliant performances in the game, Glenn Maxwell's knock of 80 runs in 51 balls stood out. He hit six sixes and as many fours in the innings. He hit two sixes in the 43rd over to win the match by two wickets.
