The young South African batter Dewald Brevis has showcased his talent once again in the Caribbean Premier League.

When Mumbai signed the South African youngster Dewald Brevis for the Indian T20 League 2022 season, there was a lot of intrigue and confusion among cricket fans. Many could not figure out how a young South African batter was given so much preference over the others. Soon however all of  cricketing world was made aware of his talent when he started to perform immensely in the 20-20 leagues throughout the world.

Brevis’s one such performance has come out in the Caribbean Premier League match when his side St Kitts and Nevis Patriots faced Trinbago Knight Riders.

Coming onto bat in the 19th over, the South African youngster hit 30 runs in just six deliveries to help his team reach a defendable score. The Protea batter hit Akeal Hosein for three consecutive sixes as the West Indies bowler gave away 30 runs in his over.

Brevis however was still not done. He hit two more sixes in the final two deliveries of the inning off Daryn Dupavillon taking his team to 163/6 in 20 overs. The 19-year-old helped his team smash 51 runs in the final two overs. His quickfire knock has been the talk of the cricketing world as the young batter continues to impress all with his sensational hitting.

As for the game, it was won by the St Kitts team largely thanks to 30 runs added by Dewald Brevis. While chasing the Trinbago Knight Riders could not string up an important partnership as wickets continued to fall at frequent intervals. The bowling lineup featuring Rashid Khan, Kevin Sinclair, Dwayne Bravo, Sheldon Cottrell, and others restricted the Trinbago team to a score of 156 and won the match by seven runs.

With this win, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have kept their hopes for the playoff still alive. They are currently in the fourth position with eight points in 10 matches and would need the fifth and sixth-placed teams to lose their all matches in order to qualify.
