Dinesh Karthik must have been disappointed with how his Asia Cup 2022 campaign turned out to be. After being selected for the first match against Pakistan, the Indian wicket-keeper was excluded from the team for the next games with no mistake of his own.

The right-hand batter did not get a chance to play in the majority of the campaign and was dropped in favour of Rishabh Pant. The latter however could not grab his chances and performed poorly as India lost the two matches of the Super Four and crashed out of the tournament.

Karthik was included in the fifth match of India’s campaign and did not get to bat again. With the game already destined to get in India's favour, the wicketkeeper was asked to bowl the final over of the match and end the Asia Cup campaign on a light note.

Bowling to Afghanistan’s lower order, Karthik gave away 18 runs. That however did not hurt the Indian side as they won the match by a massive 101 runs in their last match of the tournament.

Karthik had previously bowled 120 deliveries in the domestic matches along with 12 in T20 cricket. This was however the first time that the Chennai born had bowled in an international cricket match.

A video from his over that is getting viral shows Rishabh Pant saying, “DK bhai control to hai” (DK brother, you still got the control).

Akash Chopra, not impressed with Dinesh Karthik's bowling

While many looked to the funny side of Karthik’s bowling, India’s famous commentator Akash Chopra however wasn’t too impressed by it. Chopra expressed that Arshdeep Singh or Deepak Chahar would have given the final over. Following his displeasure, many on social media also agreed with Chopra’s views and called giving the last over to Karthik, “just a waste of time.”

Despite all that, however, India registered a huge victory against Afghanistan for what was their only win at the Super Four stage.
