The Indian T20 League has generated great excitement over the years and has become a two-month-long summertime festival. However, women’s cricket has not been able to generate more buzz than men’s games. Four seasons of the Women’s T20 Challenge have been played along with the major tournament, but there never has been a full-fledged Women’s Indian T20 League. However, women’s cricket has slowly gained popularity, and is now viewed by fans across the globe.
As for the Women’s T20 Challenge 2022, the final took place on Saturday, with the SN women claiming their third title. A video from the game went viral across the internet where the fans in the stands of the MCA Stadium in Pune are seen demanding a Women’s Indian T20 League. “We want women’s IPL- We Want women’s IPL,” chanted the crowd during the final game.

In the meantime, SN women had a brilliant win over VL women, and beat them by four runs in the final of Women’s T20 Challenge 2022. Deandra Dottin and Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur batted brilliantly to set up the game for SN wonen. Following that, consistent wickets gave them a great start to their defence. However, an excellent half-century from Laura Wolvaardt and a cameo by Simran Bahadur towards the end did not make the win easy for the SN women. In the end, Sophie Ecclestone held her nerves in a game that went down to the last over. She defended 17 runs in the final over to win the match.
On the other hand, the final of the Indian T20 League 2022 is about to go underway at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad in some time. The Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat team will take on Shreyas Iyer’s Rajasthan. The Rajasthan team is making their first final appearance since their winning campaign in 2008. On the other hand, Gujarat is playing for the first time in front of their home crowd in their debut season.
An explosive game can be expected as nobody would want to let any stones unturned in the all-important game of the 15th season.
