Melbourne Stars won the match by 38 runs over Hobart Hurricanes
Speaking of the incident, it took place during the fourth over of Melbourne Stars’ innings. Shadab Khan was bowling while Joe Clarke was batting. In the 23rd delivery of that innings, all fans from the crowd gave a standing ovation with claps in remembrance of Shane Warne. He used to play for Melbourne Stars while wearing the number 23 jersey. It was a fitting tribute for the legendary spinner from his team.
However, recently, while speaking to Matthew Hayden on Channel 7, Ricky Ponting said that he had to turn down the TV whenever there is a replay of cricket games involving Warne. He said: “Since his passing, I don’t know if you’ve been the same at home, but if there have been any replays of cricket games on, I’ve had to turn it down.”
Speaking of the match, Melbourne Stars batted first and scored 183 runs for five wickets in 20 overs. Joe Clarke scored 101* runs off 66 balls, including nine fours and four sixes. In reply, Hobart Hurricanes managed only 145 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. Both Adam Zampa and Luke Wood took three wickets each for his team. Thus, the Melbourne team won the match by 38 runs. Joe Clarke won the player of the series award for his knock of 101* runs off 66 balls.
