The on-field spat between Yusuf Pathan and Mitchell Johnson had created a lot of headlines in the Legends League Cricket. While the exact cause of the spat is unknown, some reports claim Pathan sledged the female umpire, causing the downhill.

Now, Mitchell Johnson's captain Gautam Gambhir has broken his silence on the subject. Responding to a question from a reporter, Gambhir said that he would not back his players if they were on the wrong side. "Dekhiye pehli cheez mai saaf karna chahunga, Isme ye nahi hai mai apne players ko hamesha back karunga. Kisi bhi stage pe, chahe aap kitne bhi heated argument me ho, aap kis ko physically push nahi kar sakte. That is absolutely not acceptable. (Let me make this very clear, I will not always back my players. At any stage, no matter how heated the argument is, you cannot physically push someone. That is absolutely not acceptable)," he said.

"Chahe Mitchell Johnson meri team me ho, mera farz banta hai unko back karna. As a captain, mai logon ko back karunga lekin mai wo cheez back nahi kar sakta jo within the laws of the game nahi hai. Main puri zindagi game bohot hard kheli hai, par within the rules kheli hai. (Doesn't matter if Mitchell Johnson is in my team, it's my duty to back him. As a captain, I'll back my players but not for something that's not within the rules of the game. I've played aggressive cricket all my life, but always within the rules of the game)," he continued.
