Gautam Gambhir was one of the best Indian cricketers of his time. However, he went into politics after retiring from the game. Nevertheless, the veteran cricketer continues to work in cricket. Be it as a broadcaster or a mentor for Indian T20 League teams, he still associates himself with the game. Gambhir is the Bhartiya Janata Party's East Delhi Constituency MP.
The former India cricketer has opened a kitchen in Gandhi Nagar named 'Jan Rasoi,' which serves a meal for Rs. 1. He has also established a library in the region. When asked about his Indian T20 League and commentary stints while serving as an acting MP, Gambhir gave a befitting reply.
"Why I commentate in Indian T20 League or work in it is because I spend INR 25 lakh every month to feed 5000 people. This translates to roughly Rs. 2.75 crore per year. I've also spent INR 25 lakh to build a library. I spend all of this money from my own pocket and not from the MPLAD fund. The MPLAD fund doesn't run my kitchen or other things that I do. I don't have a tree in my house from where I can pluck money either," he told the reporters.
He said that he was not ashamed of working in the cash-rich league because that has a motive behind it. "Only because I work, am I able to feed those 5000 people or establish that library. I have no shame in saying that I do commentary and work in the Indian T20 League. All of this that I do has an ultimate goal," he added.

In the meantime, the 2011 World Cup-winning player was a part of the Lucknow team in the Indian T20 League 2022. He was the team mentor, and his team did exceptionally well in the season. In their first season, the men in turquoise made it to the tournament's elimination round. Unfortunately they were defeated by Bangalore by 14 runs in the eliminator. The team led by KL Rahul would want to come back stronger next year.
