On 11 October 2022, New Zealand locked horns with Bangladesh in the third match of the ongoing T20I tri-series. Both of them were coming off after a defeat against Pakistan. Hence, the home side were looking to win to kick off their series. While Bangladesh were looking to do the same.
However, the result went in favour of the home side only. New Zealand defeated Bangladesh with ease by eight wickets. But, an unwanted incident occurred on the final ball of the match. Glenn Phillips hit a six and it hit a 12-year-old girl in the stands. After that, the star Kiwi batter came up with a great gesture that won the hearts of fans. The video went viral all over the internet.

Speaking of the video, the incident took place during the 18th over. New Zealand were cruising while chasing 138 runs. For the home side, Glenn Philips and Devon Conway were batting. On the other hand, Shoriful Islam came up to bowl in that over. It was the fifth delivery of that over when the Kiwis required only two runs.
On that delivery, Phillips hit the ball for a six and ensured his side's victory with 13 balls to spare. But, his six hit a girl in the stands at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. Seeing that, the batter ran towards the boundary line immediately and checked up on her. According to fans in the stadium, Phillips spent almost 20 minutes with the injured girl. He even signed some autographs for others in the stadium.
Speaking about the incident, the New Zealand spokesperson also opened up. He said: "She was lucid and had been assessed by doctors on the ground. She would now go to Christchurch Hospital for further checks." Regarding the match, Bangladesh scored 137 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. In reply, New Zealand won the match by eight wickets in just 17.5 overs. However, Michael Bracewell won the player of the series award for his impressive bowling performance. He took two wickets for 14 runs in four overs against Bangladesh.
