Skipper, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli will be making their return after having missed the New Zealand tour. All three last featured for India at the 20-20 World Cup 2022. The trio would be keen to make a mark in the series and help India return with the trophy.
Notably, it is the second overseas tour for India after the 20-20 World Cup 2022. The Men in Blue, recently, played three T20Is and as many ODIs in New Zealand.
Hardik Pandya led the side in the T20 series and also helped the team win the series 1-0. India, however, couldn’t replicate the performance in the ODIs as New Zealand beat them 1-0.
While Hardik Pandya has been rested for the upcoming Bangladesh ODIs, Shikhar Dhawan continues to be part of the squad. Besides, the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan, Rahul Tripathi, and Rajat Patidar have also made the cut.
In a big blow to their ambitions, Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the ODI series due to a hand injury he sustained during training. Young India fast bowler, Umran Malik has been named as his replacement.
The 23-year-old will be sharing the fast bowling duties with Mohammed Siraj and Deepak Chahar. The ODI series gets underway on 4th December 2022. The remaining two ODIs will be played on 7th and 10th December 2022.
Following the ODI series, India would be playing two Tests and they are ought to win both of them if they want to reach the final of the World Test Championship.
