Indian athlete Priyanka Goswami has said that she wants to introduce India's culture to the world. For the unversed, she won the Silver medal in the Commonwealth Games 2022 in the women’s 10,000 m race walk event on August 6. In a video that is going viral on the internet, she was giving an interview to an Aaj Tak reporter.

The reporter asked 'you are holding Lord Krishna's idols wrapped in the tricolor. What is the story behind this?' To which, the Silver medalist replied 'I worship Lord Krishna and I want to introduce the Indian culture to the world. The video had been watched by 425,000 people and counting and has received 42,000 likes and more.

Talking about her performance in the final, she clocked the timings of 43:38.00, which was her personal best. She was always in contention of a Gold medal as she was in the first position initially. However, as she progressed, she lost her lead but in the end, she was still good enough to come at second position. Once again, an Australian won the Gold medal. Australia’s Jemima Montag, who clocked 42:34.30 won the highest medal.

Notably, Goswami finished 17th in the Tokyo Olympics. The rising star practized gymnastics at school for a few months before switching to athletics. She was attracted to running because of the prize bags available to successful competitors. In February last year, she won the Indian Racewalking Championship in the 20 km race, with a new Indian record of 1:28.45, and qualified for the Summer Olympics which was played after a few months.

Talking about her personal life, she was born on March 10, 1996 in Muzzafarnagar, in Uttar Pradesh. She did her schooling from Kanohar Lal Girls School and went on to do her Bachelor of Arts.
