After winning the fourth T20I match against South Africa, Indian fans were very happy as now India can win this series with one more match to go. In this do-or-die match, India defeated the Proteas by a record margin of 82 runs.
South Africa was asked to chase down a target of 170 runs. But, they failed completely as they got bundled out for their lowest total ever in a T20I, 87 runs. After winning the match, when players got back to the hotel, they got treated to the traditional Gujrati dance, Raas Garba.
Indian players celebrated the victory by cutting cakes
Along with the traditional dancing, they also celebrated the victory by cutting cakes. It was a special victory for Rishabh Pant and his boys as this win helped them to level the series after losing the first two matches. Even, though this was India’s first win over South Africa in Rajkot. In the previous two instances, the Proteas came out victorious over the host nation.

Speaking about the match, South African captain Temba Bavuma won the toss again as he asked India to bat first. Though India was in a spot of bother after losing four wickets for 81 runs in 12.5 overs, Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik played crucial knocks to reach India to 169 runs in 20 overs. Dinesh Karthik scored 55 runs off 27 balls at a strike rate of 203.7 while Hardik Pandya came up with an important 46 runs off 31 balls.
In reply, South African batters never came into the match as they got bowled out for 87 runs only. Avesh Khan was the pick of the Indian bowlers as he grabbed four wickets by conceding only 18 runs. This was India’s biggest margin of a win over the Proteas in T20Is and Dinesh Karthik was given the player of the match award for his scintillating inning. After this impressive win, India will look to win the series decider on 19 June 2022 in Bengaluru.
