Big Bash League has always set the standard for stupendous fielding. Over the years, we have seen Brendon McCullum taking blinders on the boundary line to D’ Arcy Short taking a return catch in a single hand. There is no shortage of action in the field. In one such incident of the 12th edition of the tournament, Jake Fraser-McGurk pulled off an astonishing catch to restrict Hobart Hurricanes to a small total.

Hobart Hurricanes chose to bat first after their stand-in captain Nathan Ellis won the toss at Blundstone Arena. Hobart Hurricanes batting failed to get into the game as the wickets kept on falling regularly. There were only two key highlights in the innings. One was Jimmy Neesham’s blistering start and Jake Fraser-McGurk’s catch in the deep midwicket.

Shadab Khan, the Pakistani all-rounder, was slowly setting himself to the game atmosphere and already had a four and a six in his kitty. The batsman decided to target David Moody to bag another six. He got his timing right to hit toward the deep midwicket region and the commentators had already declared it as a six. However, Jake Fraser-McGurk had different plans.

He displayed an electric athleticism to cover the ground, hop over the boundary line, and collect the ball to throw it back to the playing area. He composed himself to complete the catch and dismiss Shadab Khan in the ninth over of the innings.

Watch it here:

Despite bundling the Hobart outfit to a meager 122, Melbourne Renegades fail to win the game. The inspired bowling attack stopped Renegades at 114 to register an eight-run victory in the 14th game of the 12th edition.

Hobart Hurricanes will play Sydney Thunders in their next game of the tournament whereas Melbourne Renegades will take on Sydney Sixers on Wednesday. Melbourne Renegades are second on the points table after the loss whereas Hobart Hurricanes moved up to the fourth position.
