Quetta Gladiators opening batter Jason Roy hit a 49-ball 100 in the Pakistan Super League to make a big statement ahead of the mega auction. Roy has been included in the list of 590 players shortlisted for the two-day event. Last year, he was signed by Hyderabad as a replacement for Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh. Ahead of the player retention last year, the right-hander was released by the franchise.
On February 7, Roy played the innings of 116 runs in just 57 balls. He hit 11 fours and eight sixes against Lahore Qalandars. The best thing about the innings was that he scored his hundred in the second innings of the game and at the end of the 13th over.
Roy's inning helped Quetta Gladiators beat Lahore Qalandars by seven wickets. Batting first, Qalandars posted 204/5, thanks to Fakhar Zaman (70), Abdullah Shafique (32), Harry Brook (41*), and David Wiese (22*). For Gladiators, Ghulam Mudassar took two wickets, while Luke Wood and Iftikhar Ahmed took one wicket each. None of the bowlers proved effective as most of them conceded more than 10 runs per over.

In reply, the 2019 winners chased down the target with three balls to spare. Jason Roy's century was complemented by James Vince (49*), and Mohammad Nawaz (25*). With this win, the Men In Purple and Gold have jumped to the fourth position with two wins in five wins. Peshawar Zalmi is below Gladiators with the same number of wins due to poor net run rate.
