Ahead of the rescheduled fifth Test match between India and England, India are in full swing with their preparations. The team led by Rohit Sharma is currently playing a four-day practice game against Leicestershire. The game started with India batting first after winning the toss.

Jasprit Bumrah, who is playing for Leicestershire in the match, put the openers Rohit and Shubman under pressure right from the start. During the first six overs, Rohit and Gill batted solidly at four runs per over before the former was seen in pain and suffering as he was struck on the box by Bumrah.

On the second delivery of the seventh over, Bumrah bowled a back-of-length delivery, and the ball angled in, smacking Rohit right on the box as the batter was trapped in the crease while trying a flick. The extra pace definitely beat the right-hander, who collapsed on the ground before being attended to by the team physio.

Rishabh Pant, who has taken over as Leicestershire's wicketkeeper for the game, had a good chuckle over that. Rohit, however, looked fine as he recovered soon.

As for the match, Gill hit four boundaries in his 28-ball 21 before getting caught behind by Will Davis in the tenth over. Wickets kept tumbling for the visiting team as half of the side was sent back for a score of 81 runs. The skipper, with 25 runs in 47 balls, has been the highest run-scorer for India thus far.

At the time of writing, the game has been halted due to rain. India has a score of 90 runs for the loss of five wickets, with Virat Kohli (nine runs in 32 balls) and Srikar Bharat (six runs in 16 balls) in the middle.

Meanwhile, the rescheduled fifth Test match will begin on the 1st of July at Birmingham's Edgebaston. This will be Rohit Sharma's first away Test assignment as India's full-time captain.
