India shine in the first ODI:

The Indian bowlers were breathing fire initially in the first innings, vindicating their captain's decision to field first. Deepak Chahar provided the first breakthrough for India as he picked Innocent Kaia's scalp for just four runs. He came back to pick up Marumani's scalp and put Zimbabwe on the back foot right away.

The Agra-born looked confident in making a statement ahead of the Asia Cup 2022. Mohammed Siraj backed him up from the other end as he got rid of Sean Williams. Chahar picked up Wesley Madhevere's wicket in a short span of time and ensured a three-for.

Zimbabwe were reduced to eighty-three for the loss of six wickets. They carried on with their bizarre batting display and lost another two wickets in quick succession. Richard Ngarava and Brad Evans steadied the innings for Zimbabwe with a stunning 70-run partnership for the ninth wicket and helped Zimbabwe register their highest ninth-wicket partnership against India. Zimbabwe ended up amassing 189 after losing all the wickets with almost ten overs to spare.

Indian openers Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill got off to a great start and reached the fifty-run mark within 12 overs. The duo carried on with their steady innings and the southpaw zipped past 50 in 76 balls. With Shubhman Gill holding the fort on the other hand, Dhawan continued to anchor the innings. The duo never looked like getting out, making things tough for the Zimbabwe bowlers. The right-hander reached his 50 off just 51 balls.

India, eventually, ended up winning the match by 10 wickets. Shikhar Dhawan remained unbeaten on 81 while Shubhman Gill remained not out for 82 runs.
