Team India took on Bangladesh in Mirpur for the second match of the ongoing ODI series on 7 December 2022. In the first match of the series, India lost the match by one run. Speaking of the match, Litton Das won the toss and chose to bat first. KL Rahul had a great last match with the bat as he scored 73 runs off 70 balls. But, he missed an easy catch while fielding, and India lost the match.
So, all the eyes were on him once again as he got the chance in the middle order as the wicketkeeper. However, during the match, Rohit Sharma dropped a catch and injured his finger in the process. Then, he left the field and KL Rahul became the stand-in captain for this match. Then, he managed to take a fantastic catch in the match as the bide went viral quickly.

Speaking of the video, the incident took place in the 47th over. Umran Malik was bowling in that over while Mahmudullah was batting. On the first delivery of that over, the Bangladesh batter tried to hit the ball to the off-side by making room. But, he managed an outside edge which flew to Rahul. Then, KL Rahul went across to his right and grabbed that ball with his right hand only.
Thus, Mahmudullah lost his wicket after scoring 77 runs off 96 balls, including seven fours. It was Umran Malik’s second wicket in the match, Speaking of the match, Bangladesh scored 271 runs for seven wickets in 50 overs while Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored 100* runs off 83 balls.
However, KL Rahul got selected as the wicketkeeper in this series ahead of Rishabh Pant. After the first match, he also opened up about this role in ODIs. He said: "We haven't played a lot of ODIs in the past 6-7 months, but if you look at 2020-2021, I've kept wickets in the one-day format and I've batted at number four and five. It's a role that the team has asked me to be ready for.”
