It was a star-studded affair in Florida to watch Lionel Messi play his first game for Inter Miami. NBA great LeBron James, A-list celebrity Kim Kardashian and tennis legend Serena Williams were among the stars who turned out to watch arguably the greatest-ever football player. It was a packed DRV PNK Stadium that witnessed a magical night on Friday. The Argentina captain had a memorable Inter-Miami debut. In the 94th minute, the Argentine maestro scored a free kick from 25 yards out, earning Inter Miami a 2-1 win over Mexican club Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup.
The former Barcelona man has spent the last two decades achieving freakishly outstanding things on the field, but this was extraordinary, even by his own supreme standards. His left foot blasted the ball over a wall of four Cruz Azul defenders and into the top left corner of the net, without a doubt the best moment in Inter Miami.

Lionel Messi continues to create records
Messi finally agreed to a two-and-a-half year contract with Inter Miami last weekend, which will pay him between $50 million and $60 million per year, before being introduced to tens of thousands of fans on Sunday, with Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham revealing that the event's online video was viewed 3.5 billion times.
He came off the bench to replace midfielder Benjamin Cremaschi in the 54th minute of the match, with Inter Miami leading 1-0. His buddy instantly gave Messi the captain's armband. With his debut, the Argentine became the league's first FIFA World Cup and Golden Ball winner. Leo became the first-ever player to score a free kick on a debut.
After scoring the free-kick he stated, "I knew I had to score, it was the last play of the game. I wanted to score so we didn't go to penalties. It was very important for us to get this win, it's a new tournament, it's going to give us confidence moving forward."
David Beckham added, "It's so exciting tonight for our fans. All of these people that come down here to see Leo just step onto the pitch, let alone just do what he's done. It's a dream come true for everyone in this stadium to see."
