Watch: Matthew Wade hits three sixes with scoop shots at his will against Sydney Thunder

On 31 December 2022, Sydney Thunder took on Hobart Hurricanes in Albury in the ongoing Big Bash League. It was the 22nd match of the ongoing tournament. Before this match, both teams were looking to strengthen their positions in the table. Speaking of the match, Hobart Hurricanes won the toss and asked Sydney Thunder to bat first.

However, Sydney managed to win the match by a comfortable margin of 62 runs. Hobart Hurricanes tried their level best to chase down the target of 229 runs in 20 overs. But, they fell short of 62 runs. However, Matthew Wade played a brilliant inning with some top-notch scoop shots and that video has now gone viral.

Matthew Wade’s quickfire 67 runs went in vain against Sydney Thunder

Speaking of the video, the incident happened during the third over of Hobart Hurricanes’ innings. Matthew Wade came out to bat when the first wicket fell after seven runs only. In that over, Brendan Doggett was bowling for Sydney Thunder. Wade hit three scoop shots for six in the third, fifth, and sixth delivery of that over. 

Fans went crazy seeing that as it was very easy for Wade to manage such outrageous shots in a single over. Matthew Wade scored 67 runs off 30 balls, including two fours and six over-boundaries. The skipper batted at a staggering strike rate of 223.33. But, apart from no batters managed to score big as they got bundled out for 166 runs in 17 overs. Ben Doggett took four wickets for 35 runs in four overs.

While batting first, Sydney Thunder scored 228 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. Alex Hales scored 77 runs off 45 balls, including five fours and four sixes. Along with him, Oliver Davies scored 65 runs off 32 balls, including five fours and five sixes. Davies also won the player of the match award for his tremendous knock. With this win, Sydney Thunder climbed up to the second spot while Hobart Hurricanes sit in the sixth position.
