MI New York’s star batter Shayan Jahangir smashed an amazing 104-meter six in the second qualifier of MLC 2023 against Texas Super Kings. The more interesting thing about this six smashed by Shayan Jahangir is that it came against the lethal 151kmph delivery from TSK’s pacer Gerald Coetzee.

Jahangir smashed this six on the fifth ball of the fifth over when MI New York were chasing the target of 159 runs posted by TSK. The video of this sensational six by Jahangir started making rounds on social media as soon as it was posted by Major League Cricket on their official Twitter handle.

Speaking of the action of the match, MI New York won the toss and asked Texas Super Kings to bat first. Batting first, Super Kings posted a total of 158 runs in the allotted 20 overs, courtesy of the individual contribution of 38 and 37 runs by Devon Conway and Milind Kumar, respectively.

The veteran pacer Trent Boult claimed a brilliant four-wicket haul; he scalped 4 wickets conceding 24 runs in his spell of four overs. Apart from him, Tim David also picked 2 wickets, alongside one each claimed by Ehsan Adil and Rashid Khan.

While chasing the target, opener Shayan Jahangir played a quick knock of 36 runs off just 18 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Apart from him, young middle order batter Dewald Brewis also scored 41 runs with a boundary and two sixes followed by Tim David’s quick cameo of 33 runs off just 20 balls with 4 sixes.

On the back of these knocks, MINY chased down the target in 19 overs with one over to spare, scoring 162 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Trent Boult won the ‘Player of the Match award for his match-defining performance by scalping a four-wicket haul. Now, Kieron Pollard’s men will take on Seattle Orcas in the final of the ongoing inaugural edition of the Major League Cricket 2023.
