Rohit Sharma has been one of the most successful skippers in white-ball cricket since becoming the full-time captain last November. Since then, India has only lost one T20I game under his captaincy and has never lost a bilateral series. In the ongoing Asia Cup 2022, the team has won both games in the Group stages. Notably, the team is the defending champion having won in 2018 under the same captain.

Meanwhile, ahead of the Hong Kong game, former Pakistan skipper Mohammad Hafeez has called Sharma 'a confused personality.' Hafeez was speaking on a pre-match show and pointed out how his former Indian counterpart was looking to bowl first but was happy to bat first. The video has gone viral on the internet.

Talking about the game, the Men In Blue beat Hong Kong by 40 runs to advance to the Super Four round. Batting first, half-centuries from Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav helped the team reach 192/2 at the end of the innings. In reply, the Red Army could only score 152/5. With this win, the Rohit Sharma-led side has become the second team to qualify for the next round after Afghanistan.

The Mohammad Nabi-led side beat the likes of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to qualify for the next round. India, on the other hand, beat arch-rivals Pakistan and Hong Kong to advance to the next round. Teams such as Pakistan, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh will have to fight hard for the remaining two places in the next round. Now, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will play for a spot in the Super Four round on September 1 in Dubai.

On the next day, Pakistan and Hong Kong will also lock horns for the remaining spot in the next round in Sharjah. These games will be interesting to watch out for the fans as they are not dead rubbers.
