On 3 November 2022, Pakistan took on South Africa in Sydney in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup. The Men in Green came to this encounter after winning their last match against the Netherlands. On the other hand, the Proteas also managed to defeat India in their last match.

So, the stage was set for a great battle as it was a must-win game for Pakistan. Speaking of the match, Babar Azam won the toss and choose to bat first. However, in that innings, Mohammad Nawaz got involved in a controversial dismissal as the video went viral.

Here is the shared video:

Mohammad Nawaz scored 28 runs off 22 balls against the Proteas

Speaking of the incident, it happened during the 13th over. Tabraiz Shamsi was bowling that over for the Proteas. For Pakistan, Mohammad Nawaz was batting. On the last delivery of that over, Nawaz tried a sweep and the ball went to Lungi Ngidi. Shamsi appealed for LBW and the umpire gave him out.

But, Nawaz was sure that he will be not out as the ball hit his bat. So, he ran for one run too. However, midway, Iftikhar Ahmed denied it and Nawaz tried to get back into the crease. But, he was late as Ngidi hit the stumps already. So, he left the field without taking any review. But, actually, he got out for that LBW appeal.

The rules suggest that once the umpire has given his decision, whatever happens after that will be null. So the ball was dead once the umpire's finger went up, and the direct hit happened only after that. Therefore, if Nawaz would take that review, the ball would become a dead ball and he could have survived. But, the batter seemed unaware of that rule as he did not go for the review. Speaking of Pakistan’s innings, they scored 185 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. Iftikhar Ahmed scored 51 runs off 35 balls while Shadab Khan scored 52 runs off 22 balls.
