India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja got to his second Test match hundred in the ongoing first Test against Sri Lanka. Jadeja came into bat when India lost the wicket of Shreyas Iyer at the score of 228/5 on Day One. The left-hander joined hands with wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant and stitched a partnership of 104 runs. Pant (96) was dismissed by Suranga Lakmal and this was the fifth time where the former had been dismissed in the 90s.

After Pant's wicket, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin came to the crease and added 130 runs with the Baroda player. Ashwin (61) was caught behind by Niroshan Dickwella off Lakmal in the 110th over of the innings. Next over, the 33-year-old reached the three-figure mark and is the only century-maker for the team in the game so far. After reaching the landmark, he celebrated in his famous way by wielding the bat like a sword.

Teammates rose and clapped for their teammate and Mohammed Siraj was on the boundary carrying the drinks. Siraj was seen emulating the celebration with the water bottle. Notably, Siraj is not playing the game with India playing three spinners Ashwin, Jadeja, and Jayant Yadav, and two pacers in the Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah.

Talking about the game, the Rohit Sharma-led side declared their innings at 574/8, with Jadeja unbeaten on 175. Previously, Jadeja's best score in the longest format was 100 not out, which came against the West Indies in 2018.

For Sri Lanka, Suranga Lakmal, Vishwa Fernanado and Lasith Embuldenya have taken two wickets each. On the other hand, Lahiru Kumara and Dhananjaya de Silva have taken one each. Notably, Kumara has been out of the field since getting injured in the session of Day One.
