It is not the first time that Novak Djokovic has made a comeback in a 5-setter after being 0-2 down in the first two sets of a match. Djokovic has an incredible record of 38-11 in five-set thrillers. The mental strength of Djokovic was on display yet again, as the World No. 2 gave no room for his fellow Serbian for a comeback into the game after the first two sets in the US Open.

The match was different in both halves. In the first two sets, Laslo Djere looked comfortable and threatened Djokovic to defeat him. The world number 32 probably played with no fear in the first two sets. With the progression of the match, the crowd expected Djere to upset Djokovic, which probably put pressure on the former. From there, Djere's game completely went down.

From the third set, Djokovic looked at his best. On the other hand, Djere committed a lot of errors. There were many double faults and unforced errors from him. In fact, the 28-year-old did not seem like a challenge for Djokovic in the last three sets. Djere won the first two sets 6-4 and 6-4 respectively. But the last three sets saw the absolute domination of the world number 2.

The message is sent to the rest of the field - Novak Djokovic

Speaking about his third-round match, Djokovic felt relieved during the post-match conference. “The message is sent to the rest of the field that I am still able to play five sets, deep (into the) night. Coming from two sets down always sends a strong message to future opponents,” said Djokovic.

“But I do not really want to be in this position, to be honest. I prefer a straight-set win. So hopefully I can get back on that track in the next match,” added the world number one as he wished for easier wins than the tougher ones. The Serbian star will face Borna Gojo in the fourth round. Gojo is from Croatia and is playing his first-ever US Open tournament at the age of 25.
