Pakistan women’s cricket team are touring Australia for a three-match ODI and T20I series and the two teams faced off against each other in the final ODI of the three-match contest on January 21, Saturday. To add more, it was the Meg Lanning-led team who won the game after restricting the Pakistani women to just 235 runs, who were chasing a target of 337.

During the first innings, there were many lazy fielding efforts from the Bismah Maroof-led team and the worst of all came in the first ball of the final over when the wicketkeeper Muneeba Ali failed to run out the Australian batter Jess Jonassen. Fans, who shared the video on the internet, claimed that it was a poor effort from the Pakistani women’s team.

Beth Mooney shines yet again as Australian women whitewash Bismah Maroof-led side

As far as the match is concerned, it was Bismah who called it right at the toss and elected to field first, in vain as Beth Mooney and skipper Lanning lifted the team up post losing Phoebe Litchfield early on in the innings when the team’s total was at 16, with Litchfield scoring 10 to her name. To the solace of the Australian fans, Mooney scored a great-hearted 133, comprising 14 fours and four maximum, while the captain made her way back to the dressing room after amassing 72 runs to her name. With their vital contribution, the Australian team managed to put on a massive total on board at the end of the first innings.

To add more to Pakistan’s chase, it was their skipper Bismah who kept the team in the race with her steady 44, although it was not enough for the team as their middle order crumbled like a pack of cards. Veteran Nida Dar scored 29 runs, while the wicketkeeper made 27 runs, putting the team in deep trouble. Despite a fightback from the Pakistani team in the middle overs, they fell short of the target by 102 runs, letting Australia clinch the series 3-0.
