After losing the first match against Namibia, Sri Lanka took on UAE for their second match in the qualifiers for the 20-20 World Cup. UAE also lost their first match against the Netherlands. So, it was a must-win match for both teams in order to keep them alive for getting qualify for the “Super 12” stage. Speaking of the match, UAE won the toss and they asked Sri Lanka to bat first. 

However, Sri Lankan batters faced some issues against the UAE bowlers. But, Pathum Nissanka showed his class as he managed to score big only. But, during his innings, a video went viral where he tried to hit a ramp shot. But, the way he managed to hit that ball, left all fans in laughter on social media platforms.

Speaking of the video, the incident took place in the 18th over of the match. For UAE, Zahoor Khan came up to bowl. On the first delivery of that over, Pathum Nissanka tried a ramp shot. But, he lost his shoe while pivoting through the stroke! Still, the outcome of the shot was perfect for him as it added important four runs to Sri Lanka.

Speaking of Sri Lanka’s innings, they got bundled out for 152 runs in 20 overs by losing eight wickets. Only, Pathum Nissanka scored 74 runs off 60 balls, including six fours and two fours. His inning only helped his country to pass the 150-run mark. Along with him, Dhananjaya de Silva scored 33 runs off 21 balls, including three fours and one six.

However, UAE’s Karthik Meiyappan created history in the match by taking a hat-trick. He grabbed three wickets for 19 runs in four overs. His spell helped UAE in restricting the current Asia Cup champion within the 152-run mark. Sri Lankan bowlers started brilliantly while defending that total. They managed to take five wickets from UAE for just 30 runs in 8.2 overs.
