The 2023–25 World Test Championship quest for Team India will get underway with a two-match Test series against the West Indies. The Indian cricket team will seek to rebound after losing the World Test Championship (WTC) Final to a Pat Cummins-led Australian side in June. Both squads are set to play two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is.

Rohit Sharma's Indian squad just arrived in Barbados ahead of their full-fledged away campaign against the West Indies, which has been set to get underway on July 12. Notably, a few members of the Indian cricket team, namely Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Shubman Gill, met West Indies star all-rounder Sir Garfield Sobers before the opening game of the series. The Indian Cricket Board shared footage of Indian players embracing the renowned cricketer, holding his hand, and conversing with him.

Meanwhile, former India cricketer and current Team India's head coach, Rahul Dravid, was spotted greeting the younger players to the Indies legend. He said, "Shubman Gill, one of our most exciting young batsmen," following a delighted reply of 'Ohh', which comes from a Windies legend.

Notably, Indian star opener Shubman Gill was in outstanding form during the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL); the 23-year-old top-order batter won the coveted Orange Cap with 890 runs from 17 matches while competing for Hardik Pandya's Gujarat Titans (GT).

The West Indies legend possesses a remarkable lifetime best score of 365 unbeaten runs

On top of that, former West Indies cricketer Garfield Sobers has been recognized as one of the finest all-around players who has competed in the game. In 93 Test matches for the West Indies from 1954 to 1974, the stylish left-handed batter accumulated 8032 runs with a remarkable average of 57.78 while competing for his country. The 86-year-old cricketer boasts 26 centuries, 30 half-centuries, and an authentically remarkable lifetime best score of 365 not out. The left-arm bowler also took 235 wickets throughout his Test appearances.
