Renuka Singh Thakur had a brilliant outing in the opening game of the Commonwealth Games 2022 between India and Australia. She took a brilliant four-wicket haul to put Australia under pressure while defending a moderate total of 154 runs.
One of her best wickets was her final wicket of the match. She dismissed Tahlia McGrath on the first ball of the fifth over with a brilliant inswinging delivery. She bowled a full pitch delivery just outside off-stump that took McGrath's stumps. The batter was also left in shock as she walked by to the dressing room.
A video of the wicket has done rounds on the internet. Olympic Khel's official Twitter handle posted the video with the caption, "Unstoppable! Renuka Singh Thakur, everyone."

As for the match, the Indian women's cricket team lost to Australia in the Group A competition at the Commonwealth Games by a disappointing margin of three wickets. India batted first and scored 154/8 in 20 overs, led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur's innings of 52 and Shafali Verma's contribution of 48 runs.ย After losing Verma, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur's courageous strokeplay helped keep the Indian innings together as she reached her half-century.
Australia got off to the worst possible start in the chase as Thakur struck out their top four batters in her first spell. Kaur exhausted all of Thakur's overs in the first spell, which got the team great results. Australia was left reeling at 34/4 in just 4.1 overs.
The Australian innings was then revived by the partnership of Ashleigh Gardner and Grace Harris, who scored 51 runs for the sixth wicket. After 14.2 overs, Australia was in trouble at 110/7 thanks to a twin strike from India, which also brought them back into the game.
Alana King, a tailender, and experienced player Gardner completely changed the course of the game by scoring 47 runs together for the eighth wicket and leading Australia to a three-wicket win with six balls remaining.
