The pitch at Rawalpindi has come under huge scrutiny after bowlers were unable to make inroads on the first three days of the Test match. The ongoing Pakistan vs England Test match in Pakistan has seen both teams scoring 500-plus totals in their respective innings. The pitch became the talk of the town from day 1 itself when England scored 500+ runs in just 75 overs.

Recently, Naseem Shah attended a press conference and irked a journalist, a video clip of which is doing the rounds on social media. Though this was doused by Naseem Shah in the press conference itself, the game will continue to have its implications on the ongoing World Test Championship cycle.

During the press conference, a senior journalist questioned Naseem Shah on the pitch by quoting 'Dennis Lillee'. He said Dennis Lillee had wished himself to be cremated on a flat track like Rawalpindi/Faisalabad when he also had faced a bowled on a pitch like this.

"There was a wicket like this a long time back in Faisalabad and Dennis Lillee had said that he would like to be cremated on a pitch like this when he dies. Do you think it was a wicket like that?”

Answering the question, Naseem Shah jokingly said,

“Sir ab aap mujhe maarne ke chakkar me hain (You are getting into conversations around me dying)”

This did not go well with the Pakistani reporter and he took the Pakistani bowler to task. He asked him to not judge him by his clothes and treat him with respect. The reporter also mentioned that he had started his sports journalism career before the player was even born.

"Meri topi, ye salwaar kameez dekh ke ye na soche ki mai naya aya hu. Ye saare bacche hai mere saamne. (Don't look at my clothes and think that I am new here. They are all kids in front of me)," he said.

"Mujhe sawaal puchne de na, ye kya tareeka hai. Aap mujhe batayenge tareeka. Aap paida nai hue the tab se mai sports journalism karra hu. Tareeka aap batayenge mujhe?"

To douse the situation, the player not only allowed the reporter to complete the question but also apologized at the end of the interview.
