Indian team captain Rohit Sharma addressed the media after their 2-1 T20I series triumph over England on Sunday. The hot topic of discussion was the former Indian skipper Virat Kohli's place in the team as he failed to deliver once again. Earlier, veteran cricketer Kapil Dev had stated that Virat Kohli should be dropped out of India's playing XI.

Rohit stated that Kapil Dev's recent opinions are pointless because he doesn't know what goes on inside the team. "Kapil Dev doesn't know what goes behind the scenes, we have a thought process, we make the team and there's a good discussion behind that. We give a run to the players, we back them. Whatever goes outside doesn't matter to us, what is going inside does," he said.

Kohli has had a rough patch in the England series so far, scoring 12 runs in the two T20 matches. Sharma, however, stated that his recent tumble will not make him forget everything he has done for the team over the previous decade.

"I don't know who are the experts who comment on a player's spot. We back player seeing their quality, if someone has been great for a decade we can't just see what has happened over the last few years," he said.

Rohit went on to say that while a player's form changes, the class of a top cricketer never diminishes. He advised everyone to bear this in mind before passing judgement on the player. "Form is something which goes up and down, but the quality of the player remains the same. We should keep this in mind before making comments on other players, we know the importance of each player," he said.

In the meantime, India will face England in a three-match One-Day International series beginning on July 12th. Kennington Oval in London will host the first fixture. Lord's and Old Trafford will host the next two matches on 14th and 17th July, respectively.
