Five-time champions, Mumbai have failed to get any points on the board after their three matches in the Indian T20 League. They lost their game against Kolkata on Wednesday by five wickets after Pat Cummins snatched win from the jaws of defeat for Kolkata.
During the final few overs of the chase, it was anybody's after Andre Russel's wicket at the score of 101 in the 14th over, with a win still 61 runs away. Venkatesh Iyer was settled but he didn't look threatening. Then walked in Pat Cummins and he blew away the bowlers. He hit 56 runs in just 15 balls, recording the joint-fastest half-century (14 balls) in the tournament. He hit 35 runs in the 16th over bowled by Daniel Sams to seal the deal for Kolkata. His innings surprised everyone. Rohit Sharma was visibly frustrated with the onslaught.
During the post-match ceremony, Rohit Sharma's anger was clearly visible. Rohit did not hear a question by Danny Morrison over the speaker and angrily asked the technician to increase the volume. "Awaaz badhao yaar uska," Rohit Sharma was heard saying. His anger was because the plans were not executed correctly in the middle. Later on, he calmed himself down and answered all the questions.

Rohit Sharma also appreciated the miraculous innings that Pat Cummins produced. He said that they never expected Cummins to go this big in the game. "Never expected him (Pat Cummins) to come and play like that. Lots of credit. The pitch got better and better to bat as the game went on. It was holding up initially. Overall it was a good pitch. With the bat, we did not start well, in the last 4-5 overs to get 70+ was a great effort from the batting unit. We did not bowl according to the plan. We had the game till the 15th over, but then Cummins was brilliant," he said.
