India and South Africa locked horns in the second T20I on Sunday at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. South Africa captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and invited India to bat first on the ground that has been historically a low-scoring one. Indian batters put up a magnificent display of stroke-making as they put 237 runs on the board after 20 overs. Captain Rohit Sharma played a steady innings of 43 off 37 balls.

After doing his bit with the bat, Rohit showed his dedication on the field as he was seen giving instructions to the fielders although his nose was bleeding. In a video that has gone viral on social media, the Indian captain can be seen talking to the fielders and the bowler Harshal Patel as he constantly cleans his bleeding nose with a towel. Rohit’s dedication was lauded by the commentators as well who showered praise on the Indian captain.

Coming back to the match, India posted a massive 237 on the board, courtesy of half-centuries from KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav. Rahul scored a magnificent 57 off 28 balls while Yadav plundered 61 off 22 balls. Virat Kohli also looked in fine form scoring an unbeaten 49 off 28 balls.

With the ball, Deepak Chahar gave India a perfect start as he bowled a maiden first up. Arshdeep Singh once again cleaned South Africa’s top order picking up a couple of wickets in the second over of the innings. Aiden Markram tried his best to bring his team back into the game but his knock of 33 of 19 balls was ended by Axar Patel. Markram’s wicket brought David Miller to the crease who came set from the dressing room.

Miller kept his team in the hunt finding boundaries regularly in his innings. Quinton De Kock at the other end struggled to get going as the game was slipping from South Africa’s grasp. He finally found his mojo back but it was too late for his team. Miller brought up a magnificent hundred in the final over and finished the innings with an unbeaten 106 off 47 balls. India won the match by 16 runs and took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
