Legendary spinner Shane Warne was given a state funeral earlier today, March 30 and as many as 50,000 people were in attendance. Many celebrities participated in the ceremony as they shared their memories of Warne. A few cricketers also participated in the ceremony, including Sachin Tendulkar, Glenn McGrath, and Ian Botham.

Sachin Tendulkar reflected on his bonding with Warne and what a character the legend was. “When someone batted well he was the first one to walk up to you and congratulate. That is how our friendship and respect for each other was. Warnie, my friend, I will miss you,” he said.

In an earlier video that Sachin put up on his YouTube channel, he recalled his last meeting with Warne. He said that they played a round of golf together, adding that it was fun meeting him in person. He also said that it was always fun when Warne was around. After the last IPL, I went to England to spend some time in London where we got in touch with each other and also planned a round of Golf. It was fun. When Shane was around, there was not a dull moment. He was full of entertainment and jokes and those mini battles that we had, I realise it was not just the spin but also the swing that came naturally to him,” he said.

“He was a good golfer. I hate saying he was because we have to accept what has happened. For us, he will continue to live in our hearts,” he added.
