WATCH: Saim Ayub's powerful knock guides Guyana Amazon Warriors to 6 wickets win against Trinbago Knight Riders in CPL 2023

In the 19th match of CPL 2023, Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) beat Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) by six wickets. Batting first, Trinbago Knight Riders, with the help of brilliant knocks from Lorcan Tucker, Akeal Hosein, and Kieron Pollard, posted a total of 172/8 in 20 overs. Odeon Smith shined for Guyana with three wickets.

After winning the match Warriors are on the top spot on the points table. Half-centuries from Saim Ayub and Shai Hope, Guyana chased the target of 173 runs. Saim Ayub and Shai Hope added 93 runs for the second wicket. In the end, Azam Khan's cameo took Guyana over the line with five balls remaining. For Trinidad, Ali Khan and Andre Russell clinched two wickets.

Saim Ayub shines for the Warriors

GAW won the toss and elected to field first, the decision went in favour of the team, as Trinbago lost two wickets for just 34 runs in the powerplay. Martin Guptill failed to create an impact yet again, scoring just 15 runs off 20 balls. Nicholas Pooran's poor run continues in the CPL 2023 season. Batting at no.3, Pooran could score only 18 runs from 15 deliveries with one four and a six.

Lorcan Tucker and Akeal Hosein scored 38 runs for the fourth wicket. Tucker, scored 38 runs off 25 balls hitting five fours. On the other hand, Hosein scored an unbeaten 44 runs off 35 balls. With the courtesy of their partnership and their skipper Kieron Pollard, a cameo of 25 runs off 12 balls with three fours and a six at a strike rate of 208.33, helped the Trinbago Knight Riders post 172/8 in 20 overs.

In reply, Saim Ayub stabilized Guyana's innings after the early dismissal of his partner Hemraj. Ayub went on to score 62 runs off 43 deliveries with four fours and as many sixes. His innings came to an end in the 14th over off Andre Russell's brilliant reflex catch off his own bowling. He and Shai Hope stitched a brilliant partnership for the second wicket with Ayub. Hope scored 51 runs off 40 balls with three fours and three sixes. Apart from Russell and Ali Khan, not a single bowler looked in rhythm, which eventually failed them to win the game for TKR.
