On Friday, India had a disastrous start to the rescheduled fifth Test match against England. They were asked to bat first after Ben Stokes called it correctly at the toss. Half of the side was sent back for a score of just 98 runs. The fifth wicket to fall was Shreyas Iyer. To get this wicket, Sam Billings showed excellent athleticism to take the catch.

This occurred during the 28th over of the innings, delivered by James Anderson. He pitched a short ball to Iyer on the last delivery of the over, and the plan worked well against him. The batter, who had only faced 10 deliveries, was completely deceived as he attempted to deflect it away. The ball, however, made contact with his gloves, and it looked for a little second that it would beat the keeper.

Nonetheless, an alert Sam Billings showed excellent presence as he brilliantly dove to his left and completed an incredible catch. Iyer was forced to walk back to the dressing room as India lost their fifth wicket.

A video posted by the English Cricket Team on their official Twitter handle has gone viral. "Ooooooh what a catch @sambillings!!" read the caption of the tweet.

In the meantime, after losing five wickets, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja brought India back into the game. In the match, the former went on to produce a rapid century. He scored 146 runs off 111 balls. Jadeja, on the other hand, played with discipline and remained unbeaten on 83 runs in 163 on the first day. The two scored 222 runs for India's sixth-wicket partnership, the best sixth-wicket score for India against England.

India was 338/7 at the close of day one. On the second day, Jadeja and Mohammad Shami will resume the proceedings. They'd like to have some runs on the board quickly before England gets any more wickets. The Jasprit Bumrah-led will look to set a good total to get a head start in the match.
