Siechem Madurai Panthers’ senior player Murugan Ashwin amazed everyone with his sensational catch in the match against Dindigul Dragons during the TNPL 2023. He made an amazing effort running back to his position in the field and executed an unbelievable catch eventually to dismiss Dindigul Dragons’ S Arun in the second innings of the match.
The moment came on the fourth ball of the fourth over in the second innings when the Dindigul Dragons were chasing the target of 124 runs given by the Panthers. Gurjapneet Singh was bowling to S Arun in the fourth over.
The video of this sensational and unbelievable effort by Murugan Ashwin is also making rounds on social media within minutes of being shared on the micro-blogging site Twitter. Although Murugan ended up on the wrong side of the match he managed to attract the headlines of social media for an excellent catch.

Speaking of the entire action of the match, the hosts’ skipper Ravichandran Ashwin won the toss and decided to field first. Batting first, Siechem Madurai Panthers could score only 123 runs after losing all the wickets in 19.3 overs courtesy of the brilliant bowling by the Dragons’ bowling attack. Jagatheesan Kousik played a struggling knock of 45 runs with four boundaries and three sixes for the Panthers to help reach a total of 123 runs.
Saravana Kumar and Subodh Bhati scalped three wickets each for the Dragons alongside two wickets claimed by Varun Chakravarthy. Other than this, skipper Ravichandran Ashwin and spinner M Mathivannan also scalped a wicket each for the hosts in the first innings.
While chasing the target, the Dindigul Dragons positioned themselves comfortably after losing their top three wickets early on the score of only 32 runs in 3.4 overs. On the back of wicketkeeper-batter Babar Indrajith’s 78-run knock, and his partnership with impact player Adithya Ganesh, Dragons chased down the target comfortably in 14.1 overs by scoring 124 runs for the loss of three wickets.
Earlier, it was Panthers’ Gurjapneet Singh who scalped all three wickets of Panthers in the starting overs. He impressed the fans and experts with his amazing bowling despite ending on the wrong side of the match; Singh scalped three wickets at the cost of only 18 runs in his spell of four overs.
