Sri Lanka have been going through a major economic crisis. While all seemed dark for the country, cricket has come as a hope of relief for the crowd's entertainment and some economical aid. Sri Lanka are currently hosting Australia for an all-format series. The ODI series of the tour just ended, with the hosts claiming the win by a 3-2 margin.

The Dasun Shanaka-led team bounced back to win three matches in a row after they lost the first match. Despite losing the final match by four wickets, the Island nation played a solid game throughout the season. After the series ended, the Sri Lankan crowd was seen chanting 'Australia, Australia' in the stands in Colombo.

This was the crowd's way of thanking the visitors for the tour amidst their tough times. A video of the Australian team doing a lap of honour as the crowd cheered for them has gone viral over the internet. In another video posted by cricket.com.au Glenn Maxwell said, "We're (Australian team) generally the enemy, but to have the support and the fans that are here at the moment is truly extraordinary."

"The scenes in Colombo after the fifth ODI were unreal and left Glenn Maxwell and the Aussies stunned as fans thanked them for touring," read the caption of the tweet.

As for the final match, Sri Lanka could not do much with the bat in the first innings. They only got 160 runs on the board, owing to Chamika Karunartne's efforts. He scored 75 runs in 75 balls in his innings. Kusal Mendis, with his score of 26 runs in 40 balls, was the next highest scorer of the innings.  In the chase, Australia lost a few wickets but won the match within 40 overs. Alex Carey (45 runs in 65 balls) was the highest scorer of the innings.

The series will now move to Galle for the two-match Test series. The first match will be played on the 29th of June.
