Steve Smith, the Australian batter, is in the best of his forms and the right-handed batter smashed two consecutive centuries in the ongoing season of the Big Bash League 2022/23 (BBL 12). On Saturday, Sydney Sixers faced off against Sydney Thunders and eventually managed to crush the latter by 125 runs.

While Smith’s blistering century was one of the takeaways from the game, the batter hitting the non-striker Moises Henriques during the third ball of the 18th over from Daniel Sams was another. However, the Australian star mistimed the ball and it was Henriques who faced the wrath as the ball hit him straight in the face.

The Australian allrounder tried to get out of the way, in vain, as Smith hit it too fast and Henriques had to face the hit. To the delight of the fans gathered in the stadium, the allrounder managed to stand up on his feet and went on to provide a great finish to the Sixers team.

Steve Smith proves might in T20s yet again

After scoring a blistering century in the previous game, the batter scored his second consecutive century, remaining unbeaten at 125 off just 66 balls at the end of the first innings. Henriques, on the other hand, scored an unbeaten 45 to help the team put on 125 runs on the board at the end of the first innings.

Much to the surprise of the Thunders fans, their team got off to a poor start and were restricted to 48/7 in no time. David Warner, to the dolefulness of his fans, scored a 23-ball 16 and let the team down yet again. Steve O’Keefe, the veteran spinner, lived up to the expectations as he picked up a four-for, with Sean Abbott backing him up with his three-for.

With the win, the Sixers reached second place in the points table with 9 wins out of the 13 matches that they have played so far. The Thunders, on the other hand, remained in the fourth with 6 wins out of the 13 matches that they have competed in.
