Dinesh Bana, on Saturday, hit the winning six over long-on at the Sir Viv Richards Stadium to win India their 5th U-19 World Cup. The shot had a resemblance to the winning shot MS Dhoni hit at Wankhede in World Cup 2011. Fans on social media were amazed at the similarities.
Cricket's governing body posted a transition video of Bana's and Dhoni's winning shots on Instagram. "Where have we seen this ending before?" read the caption.
India's journey to the final was never easy with the Covid outbreak in the camp. Captain Yash Dhull along with others had to miss out on the match against Ireland. Most of them were unavailable for the match against Uganda as well. However, the team did well to reach the final undefeated.

In the final match against England, India was asked to bowl first. With Raj Bawa taking the charge of the innings and Ravi Kumar supporting him at equal capacity, India restricted England for just 189 runs. Bawa got a five-wicket haul and Kumar got a four-wicket haul. James Rew tried to stabilize the innings by scoring 95 in 116 but England folded out for a below par score.
India too had a shaky start but Shaik Rasheed did well to score a half-century. Nishant Sandhu also scored a half-century in the latter part of the innings. But, it was Raj Bawa who shone in the second innings as well. He scored an important knock of 35 in 54 balls. In the last over, Dinesh Bana hit two consecutive sixes to help India lift the title for the 5th time.
Raj Bawa was awarded the man of the match for his all-round performance.
