Sanju Samson has remained in and out of the Indian team for a while now despite the senior players missing out on some assignments. The wicketkeeper-batter has always had a massive fan following. Wherever he goes, fans are always there to show their love and support.
With the Indian team now in Thiruvananthapuram, chants of 'Sanju Sanju' were unavoidable. Despite the fact that Samson was not on the Indian team, there was a 'Sanju Samson mania' as the team arrived in the city, which is Samson's hometown.
While Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal shared photos of a huge crowd chanting Samson's name around the team bus, batter Suryakumar Yadav won millions of hearts in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday. He flashed a picture of Samson to the fans from the bus, arousing cheers and applause for the poster boy of Kerala.

When Samson was not named to the squads for the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup, there was outrage. Despite good performances in the games he has played, the Kerala-born was never a first-choice team player. Samson was given a chance in the West Indies only because KL Rahul was unable to recover in time for the T20Is.
Samson, who hasn't played for India since the Zimbabwe series, is expected to make a comeback in the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa after captaining India A in three unofficial ODIs against New Zealand A. The young batter would like to keep pushing his case for a permanent spot in the side, as he has performed admirably in his limited opportunities this year.
In the meantime, the Indian team has been doing well in preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup. They recently beat Australia 2-1 in the three-match series and will look to do the same in the series against South Africa. The three-match T20I series against the Proteas kicks off on September 28th in Thiruvananthapuram.
