India beat Ireland by seven wickets in the first T20I match of their series. The Indian team batted really well in the match, with Deepak Hooda and Hardik Pandya leading the way. However, Suryakumar Yadav had a disappointing stay at the crease.

A fan at the Malahide Cricket Club in Dublin was spotted holding a sign for the batter in the match. "From Mumbai to Dublin just to watch Suryaa playing," read the sign. The fan, however, must have been disappointed as Suryakumar was dismissed on the very first ball that he played. On the preceding ball, Chris Young had dismissed Ishan Kishan. He then followed it up with a full delivery onto Suryakuar's pads, which got him his second wicket.

A video of the fan holding the sign and the 31-year-old getting out immediately has done rounds on the internet.

Notably, the right-hander has been away from playing cricket for some time because of an injury. He had left the Mumbai bio bubble mid-way through the Indian T20 League 2022 to recover. He also had suffered an injury before the start of the cash-rich league.

In the meanwhile, the first T20I of the series was reduced to 12 overs a side because of rain. The Indian team made early breakthroughs, putting Ireland under pressure. However, Harry Tector saved the game for the hosts with a stunning half-century. He played an aggressive game and scored 64 runs in 33 balls in the team’s tally of 108 runs.

Deepak Hooda got a chance to open the innings alongside Ishan Kishan in the chase. He played a fine knock in the innings. He was then given support by Hardik Pandya, who walked in after two wickets. The two added 64 runs together to put India in a comfortable position. Hooda (47 runs in 29 balls) stayed not out to guide the team through the winning line in the 10th over.

India now has a lead of 1-0 in the series. The second match will be played on the 28th of June.
