On 30 November 2022, West Indies locked horns with Australia in Perth for teh two-match Test series. It was the first match of the series where Australia batted first. However, they managed to score a massive 598 runs for four wickets as they declared on Day 2. Speaking of the incident, it took place in the sixth over. For Australia, Josh Hazlewood was bowling while Tagenarine Chanderpaul was batting. In teh last delivery of that over, Chanderpaul got a blow in his delicate spot. The ball swung in sharply and made him down on his knees.
Firstly, he was in discomfort. But, after some time, he looked good and restarted his batting. Speaking of Tagenarine Chanderpaul, he managed to hit a hundred in the practice game before this match. Against Prime Minister’s XI, he scored 119 and 56 runs respectively in two innings. So, fans were hoping for such form from this batter in this clash.
Speaking of this match, Australia declared their first innings after scoring 598 runs for four wickets in 152.4 overs. Marnus Labuschagne scored 204 runs off 350 balls, including 20 fours and one six. Then, Steve Smith continued his dominance in Test cricket. He scored 200* runs off 311 balls, including 17 balls. Travis Head also scored 99 runs off 95 balls, including 11 fours. He batted at a strike rate of 104.21. For West Indies, only Brathwaite took two wickets with the ball. In reply, West Indies managed 39 runs for no loss in 13 overs. Both Chanderpaul and Brathwaite managed to give a steady start to their nation.
